TRUE CULTURE UNIVERSITY

The mission of The African Diaspora Alliance (ADA) is to holistically connect descendants of Africa to the global African community, known as the African Diaspora. The African Diaspora Alliance serves as a facilitator through a variety of diverse programs.

The International Youth Leadership Institute (IYLI) was founded in 1989. IYLI uses a framework of history, culture, geography and environment to cultivate critical thinking and positive action. The framework is practiced and applied through seminars, workshops, service learning and international study to provide a context for analyzing challenges that we face. 

West2West facilitates the exchange of resources, education, and culture within the Afrikan Black Diaspora. Through exposure and connectedness those in the Diaspora can realize their people power and be moved to establish self-sustained and self-governed communities.

Leaders of the Free World (LFW) is an international experience and leadership development program for young Black men. Our mission is to develop dynamic leaders who are globally-minded, self-aware, and service-driven. 

Birthright AFRICA inspires youth and young adults of African descent ages 13 – 30 to explore their cultural roots and legacy of innovation within the United States and select nations in Africa as a birthright. In collaboration with our partners, we aim to instill pride, enhance confidence, and spark the creativity of our Scholars to fulfill their leadership and entrepreneurial aspirations.

We seek to promote service- learning partnerships between Africa and the Diaspora. In Ghana and Tanzania, we are using a unique Pan-African Study Abroad model, to help foster commitments towards transforming education. The model, as designed by Dr. Rose Walls, Mr. Albie Walls, and Dr. Beverly Booker Ammah focuses upon developing consciousness, community engagement, and participatory action research. We provide students opportunity to put theory to practice in Ghana within academic disciplines and majors they study at their home institutions, conscious dialogues platforms with Ghanaian and Tanzanian university students and young professionals and entrepreneurs, and portals for internships and long- term study abroad programs.   

PATA aims to demonstrate to students the benefits of a STEAM education for themselves and their communities motivating them to pursue a professional career in these disciplines. This is accomplished by offering high quality interactive hands-on classes, afterschool tutoring programs, technology-centered field trips and technical and non-technical community presentations and talks.

The Nubia Initiative (TNI) aims to leverage arts, academia and technology to protect, preserve and promote Nubian culture and language.

Nubian arts, crafts, archeology, language, history and contemporary stories will dictate the modern Nubian narrative by bringing to  light what it means to be a part of this vast culture both locally and in the diaspora. Our goal is to safeguard Nubia's tangible and intangible heritage by archiving and digitally sharing untold Nubian stories with the world.

IKG is an educational organization that is devoted to the re-discovery and application of ancient African history, culture and wisdom. It was founded in 1982 by Anthony T. Browder who sought to challenge the distorted perceptions of Africa that are perpetuated in the media and in classrooms worldwide.

The Cultural Resource Center houses a permanent exhibit of the Egypt on the Potomac Field Trip of Washington, D.C. and is a source for IKG publications and related materials. The IKG Cultural Resource Center also sponsors educational and personal enhancement workshops and seminars. It serves as IKG’s newest component in the fulfillment of its mission as advocate for the dissemination of information and knowledge regarding the positive portrayal of the worldwide African experience.
